While he grew up in Zaïre, JC was introduced to fighting sports with Tae Kwon Do which he practiced for a few years until he moved to Ivory Coast in 1992. There, he left aside martials arts for more common sports such as football (a.k.a. soccer) and surfing. It is only after he moved in Montreal, Canada, that he rekindled his passion with kickboxing sports. After a year of Shotokan Karate in 2000 and quite unsatisfied with the opportunities this martial art offered to him, he decided to register for the "savate kickboxing" courses offered by McGill and discovered one of the very rare sports that he enjoyed. Now, after several years of Savate and both a challenging
and entertaining learning process, he is glad to help and share his
experience with new practitioners of Boxe Française as well as older ones.
Boxe Française has changed a lot of things in my life, in a good way. I have learnt a lot about myself as well as others; it also helped me to stay strong and keep faith in myself at times where doubt surrounded me. Last but not least, I have had the chance to meet really great people that I would never have met otherwise. And I'm grateful for that.
Savate Kickboxing is a very challenging and physical sport with a wonderful community built around it.
Special thanks to:
My father: I'm still amazed at how you can be so patient and loving for me and my sisters day after day.
My mother: all the care and attention you gave me are the most wonderful gifts you could ever give.
I love you both.
Olivier Bourrier and Raphael Estevao: the dedication and commitment you put in Boxe Francaise is an everyday life example for me.
